We were kind of worried as to what condition the set would be in since we are the last church to use it-but our worries were not worth it! The set was in really really good condition- we are getting super pumped fro VBS and there will be many more pics during VBS next week. Here is what the main kids room looks like (once we get all the rooms done i get pics of the those):

on tuesday we had our 2nd kids day out: wacky water day!!! we made a mini slip-n-slide and played games all afternoon. The kids had a blast!!! (and so did the adults:)) The preschoolers were so cute going down the slip-n-slide-they didn't weigh enough or have enough momentum to get all the way down it, so i usually ended up meeting them half way and pulling them down the rest of the way!!! I got a pretty boring color-nude but madelyn got an awesome color-i'm not really a waitress! we laughed so hard about that. Madeyln also got flowers on her nails-she was pretty excited! here are the pictures of our nails:

after our nails we headed to Target to get her imput on our VBS promotion prizes. we walked around the toys and electronics and found something we thought would work, so we bought it! As I was taking her home we started talking about the importance of a daily devotional time. Madelyn shared with me that she already had a daily devotional time, she just started the Mpact program-stars where she is required to read all of the New Testament. She is using that reading plan to keep up with her devotional time. I was so proud of her!!!

An Iowa Weekend

Sallie letting Charlee driving-----Saylee wanted to take a pic of me

Mike playing bags & Charlee helping------Mike playing ladderball

This weekend Mike and I headed to Iowa for my Dr. Appt and one of my closest friends-Alana's wedding. We always stay @ our home away from home-torrie & dallas's. of course their girls-saylee & charlee were excited to see us. I went to the ladies bible study @ berean on friday night with torrie. it was a great time of food, fellowship, and God-time. Torrie shared about keeping our emotions in check. It was really good for me to think about what emotions I need to focus on as a person. all summer I have been giving of myself during services and wednesday night. it was good to focus on myself for a few hours.....ok well alot of hours. we kinda made mike nervous, he woke up @3 and i still wasn't home...but i was home soon after though :) the next day we hung out with the girls outside. we played games and won some and lost some but it was alot of fun. Saturday night we changed clothes and headed out to living history farms to see Alana & Micah get hitched! It was so beautiful and so alana!!!! here are some pics her wedding:
Its Mr. & Mrs. Hidreth!!!-------------3 life-long friends!!

After the wedding Mike & I had to drive all the back to KC for church in the morning. it wasn't a super late night but late enough! This was the activitiy that the new 7th graders could attend for free. They came out by the hoards! It was great to see all of them there and we had a great time. I don't know how many times annie had to say- 'girls this is putt-putt' they were whacking the ball soo....hard.

madelyn, keegan, and pastor matt acting out the story of the good samariatian & the youth human video

On Sunday it was our 2nd synergy service. The theme was love. Our mission is this summer is: living, loving & growing-we are family! We started the service with the youth segment and they read the love chapter in 1 Corinthains and did a drama/human video. Pastor matt and todd did an offeratory. We had worship and then the KIDS took over :) which by the way was my favorite part....but i am a little partial......:) we did a praise song with motions and puppet song. we then acted out the story of the good samaritan and talked about loving others even if they don't look or act like us. Dad got us and closed the service with a short message on loving all people. It was a great service and I can't wait for the next one.

Mike is working this week on the reveal for the new youth group name and finishing the decorating of the youth room. Its going to be soo....cool. He is also working his last promotion for next wednesday. he is preaching and taking care of the entire service. He is super excited....i'm getting geared up for VBS and my last promotion which is the 16th of aug. we see the end of our internship but there is alot of work to do between now and then.

Mike is finally getting the bathroom started @ the parsonage. the tub is in and soon he will be tearing out the old shower and putting the new floor down. I have started to pack because 3 weeks from today we will be headed back down to Springfield for school. I can't believe how fast the summer has gone but its gone just the same!

My Texas Girls

on tuesday after staff meeting mom, dad, mike & i headed to springfield to see aunt shirley, uncle jim, aunt heather, uncle tommy & the girls! we haven't seen them since the wedding, i was so excited to see livie and ash. ash has grown up so much she is acting more and more like a little teenager. livie is now talking in sentences more. her voice is so stinking cute. her and ash showed me their rap and omg she is too cute. livie loves to be outside and we saw unnies.....which are bunnies....she sometimes leaves the 1st letter off of her words....we had to leave after dinner but we it was a great visit for all of us. it makes me sad we don't live closer anymore-but that's life. we must enjoy the time we have together when we have it. i can't wait to see them again!

All Leaders Cookout

playing volleyball with the leaders brett & lauren holding hands

our '2nd' base man

moirah getting ready to kick the ball.
picking teams for kickball Last night was our all leader's cookout. we were going to spend the night outside playing kickball, volleyball, and water games. But every week, at least for right now, we try to have a date night. We usually go out to dinner @ a place that I have a coupon for and go see a movie or putt-putt. This week we went to the Family Golf Park driving range cuz we had coupons for a free bucket of balls. We have a men's golf outing on Friday and mike wanted to hit a few around. he tried to get me to swing @ a few but i didn't want him to laugh @ me. :) He then wanted to go practice his putting and instead of going to the putting green, i talked him into the putt-putt course. We hadn't been to this place before so I wanted to check it out....and suprise i ended up winning :) first time ever!!!! i was super proud.

we just try and go spend some time together and spend most of the night laughing. mike laughed @ me most of the last one because i was so tired, from camp-but it was fun anyway.

Wild West Camp 09

<img style="WIDTH: 248px; GREAT FOOD.
This week was somo kids camp. Scratch that-it was just girls camp for us! (we only brought girls) It was blast! Pastor angela and I were a little nervous since we were in charge and had never been there before—but it was a lot of fun for us. We also had 2 moms go as staff-so they were around to help us with the girls. It started with 3 hrs. on a bus in the Ozark mountains-which means super curvy roads. We got our girls registered and got our room assignment and realized we were in a large…large room that we had to share with other girls and counselors from other churches. We brought 15 girls from our church and there were @ least 32 in our room. The first two nights that we were there they informed us that we had a 30 sec. rule when flushing the toilets. This meant that the toilets would overflow if the girls didn’t wait 30 sec. between flushing-this brought on a lot of mopping through out the week.
Our services were really good. Mark Steinbach was our evangelist-I was super excited because I had never heard of them before. Him and his family wrote a script for the week with the wild wild west theme-the kids loved it. They had 6 characters that were so great! Hannah banana, the crazy surfer girl/ Mae- Hannah Banana’s best friend/ Mr. Narrator-the geek (he was all the kids favorite)/ the peach cobbler gang (3)/ skeeter- puppet. The whole family did the worship- that is always my favorite part-to see that the evangelists are doing-they did all new songs to me and my girls so that was exciting. We are now franticly looking for the song- ‘up up baby.’ Pastor Mark preached what I liked to call- one word sermons-he would take one world out of the memory verse and use that to make his points. I really liked that concept- its probably a really old concept but I like it! The girls really remembered the points later in the week. Most of our girls rededicated their life and 2 got filled with the Holy Spirit! About 5 others girls are still seeking.
The games @ somo camp were great! They have developed an ‘uncompetitive’ style of games- they have a 6 station rotation and they play games that they can add points without all the teams actually being there. They also had indoor games where we played ‘5 ball kickball,’ ‘zone basketball,’ & ‘dr. dodge ball.’ They would add up all the baskets/runs we got and then compare it to the other teams scores to see who ‘won’ the sport of the day. It was so much fun to not have to worry about the girls getting upset or not about we were going to win or if it was fair or not.
Overall, we had a great time at camp this year- it was definitely a growing experience with me. I have only gone to iowa & tennessee camps, so it was good to see how others camps do things and compare them. The one thing from iowa camp that I missed was the ‘feet off the floor” time. (which I left on my comment card J) They also had the best food that I had ever had @ a camp ground! It was well balance for kids but also extremely good tasting. Their snack shop was also extremely well priced. I got everything I wanted all week and only spent $5.00. Sadly this may have been the only time I get to go to SOMO camp but it was totally worth it!!!!

Hey Hey Hey

hey there blog world....i'm prepping for CAMP!!!! anyone who knows me: knows that I'm all for camp, i live, breathe and drink camp. CAMP is for the campers!!! This is something that I was taught by an old kids pastor of mine and I have taken it to heart. We have 15 girls going (yes only girls) with 3 counselors and 3 other staff workers. We are going to have a BLAST!!!!! Its a western theme & we already have cowgirl hats and jenn & i are going to shop for more western items for them. Please remember us in prayer this week- we all want to come back totally changed for God.

tonight we had a youth event @ melissa's house for bbq and movies. they watched prince caspian & bedtime stories. some of girls stayed upstairs and talked and talked. Some of the boys played pool and wii during it as well. it was a good time of fellowship & hanging out.

also this week i got my card from the AG stating that i'm a card-carrying minister. it was way cool getting this card. why you may ask? through this process the people that interviewed me kept saying that they do not 'call' people they just recognize the 'call' God has placed in a person's life. when i saw that card all i could keep thinking was- wow someone else sees it too- and not just someone who knows me. it was a renewing moment for my call. i have such a heavy burden for kids- for them to find Jesus and to have a new life in him. kids are so easy to reach we just have to take the time to do it sometime.

we had a plumbing problem in the parsonage this week. he started fixing the 'problem' on tuesday and didn't fix it totally till today. he had to jackhammer the basement floor to unbury the pipe so that he could figure out where the leak was. its still not totally back to normal cuz the cement has to dry. the carpet has to be put back & everything has to be dusted. But the problem is fixed and we now have a kitchen sink again!!! its so good to have a hubby that can get things fixed!!!

I'm not sure ill be on again before camp, but please be praying for us!

A Night @ the Park

Mom teaches Rainbows on Wednesday Nights @ church. During July they are used to just having fun nights- so we decided to take them to a park that is about 5 min from our church. We loaded them back into the 15-passenger van-well i did with mom's surgery she can't life anything over 15 pounds. So i loaded them into the van, buckled them in, unbuckled them, handed them to the mom that went. All i have to say is that my back & arms still hurt. It reminded me of John & Kate Plus 8 the early years! When we got to the park they had so much fun. They just kept running and playing and swinging. They had so much fun. it was a little warm so it was good that we only had a 30 min @ the park. I think that next week we are doing a big water day. Not sure though. I love these kids so much! They are so much fun to play with.
Today we took the kids to paradise park-for kids day out. We had tons of fun putt-putting. it was kinda of warm day and the preschoolers were worn out pretty quick. Then everyone came inside and played arcade games for a while. The kids had alot of fun. We are looking forward to KDO in Aug. for Wacky Water Day.

After the kids activity we were able to be apart of a 'brainstorming' session with the pastors. as interns it was exteremly helpful to mike & i to see what a church staff goes through while developing a church a ministries. we learned alot of what seasoned pastors go through while brainstorming. we also got alot of new to-do jobs to do...that's always the downfall of 'brainstorming'.....or upside...you can choose.

Freedom Celebration

On Sunday we had a Freedom Celebration to thank all the veterans for our freedom. We had all of our veterans stand and were recongnized. We then had a MIA recongnition. Our choir ministered to us with a musical along with the Children's Choir and then Dad preached on the 'scar-spangled banner' it was exteremly moving. the people of 1st were extremely touched-they have never had a service like this. It was great to be apart of.

On Sunday night we had a prayer service for our nation. We recongized all our soldiers that are fighting right now. It was really touching it see how many families were being effected by the war. but the faith that they had. I wouldn't even know how to go on if I didn't have faith in God.

Date Night & Independence Day

mike & i's day off is thursday and we decided that we were going to go to Famous Dave's BBQ. Mike and i are working 35+ hours in the church office and helping run our respective ministries. Mike just got back from SOMO camp. Its way different from ohio camp but he said that it was a great experience. Our teenagers were challenged extremely hard to be leaders for Christ in their youth group and in their schools. It was so great to see them entering in in worship and the altar. This week we had Project Discovery for our 1st-8th graders. Each child signed up for 2 classes that interested them and in those classes they were taught how to use their talents for God. We had classes in scrapbooking, sewing, drama, carpenty, puppets, jewlery, and cooking. Eveyday the kids made something that they were encouraged to give away. I taught a class so I don't have any pictures but on Sunday night we are showcasing our works and I will have pictures of that.

Here are some of the acitivities we have been doing lately:

Last wednesday night we a dodgeball tournament after youth group. They had so much fun wailing balls at each other! Dad and the other staff and the deacons also challenged the youth to a game. but the teenagers pulled out and won!

Last Sunday we invited the Somoan church that uses our building on Sunday to lead our Sunday evening service. Pastor Paulo lead amazing worship and also preached a great sermon on witnessing. It was very challenging! They even had a special where everyone from their church came up to sing with motions it was sooo great!

We live less than 5 miles from the Royals stadium and we are able to get really cheap tickets which is what we did for Mike's birthday. Aaron and Kenzie went with us but had to purchase the standing room only tickets because it was such a good game. And luckily the people that had the seats next to us never showed up (prolly b/c of the 1 1/2 rain delay) they got to sit next to us for the whole game!

Mike and I can't beleive that we are moving back to Springfield in 6 weeks....this summer has gone by sooo fast that i feels like it just started....and i don't know what to do about it :)

ta ta for now!

Long overdue Update

This is the first post from the CBC college graduate, Mrs. Michael Pilcher. Graduation was fun, exciting, and sad all rolled into one. I was also awarded the 'Outstanding Student in the Children's Ministries Dept.' I was extremely shocked at this, but also extremely thankful that once again my call has been recongnized the wonderful professors that taught me all the knowledge they had while I was at CBC. Commencement was extremely motivating and it made me what to just go out and save the world. (oh wait, i'm going to do that anyway :)) Chase was our commencement speaker and he along with Dr. Denbow (college president) echoed that same message that had been preached in our chapels earlier that week-don't seek out titles seek out souls for the Kingdom. Now I know that doesn't seem like deep wisdom coming from the commencement speaker or the President of a college but it was a good reminder of what the goal is. We live in a world that pushes one to get promotions and titles and encourages you to step on whoever to get there. But as a preacher, you need to gather all those people along with you and lead them to the cross. They should always see you as a leader.

12 days ago i became Mrs. Michael Pilcher. It was a beautiful ceremony that was attended by great friends and family. It was traditional but with touches of my personality. It was great! We then headed to the Happiest Place on Earth- DISNEY WORLD!!! We spent 7 days there. I was in heaven. I got to see Mickey and Minnie and all my other favorites. We wore "Just Married" buttons around and everyone was congratulating us. It was so much fun! Every place that we went to eat they gave us free desserts! anyone who knows us knows that i was thrilled :)

After our time at Disney, we headed to Ohio for our reception there. It was yesterday evening at Mike's home church-Radiant Life Church. We had around 50 people there. It was a great time of fellowship and people wishing us well.

This morning Mike and I got back in the car to head to PA to visit his grandparents. Mike's grandpa got sick the week of commencement and was in the hospital for close to a week. Due to that they were unable to come to our wedding so since we were so blessed at our wedding we decided to take a short detour and go and visit them.

On Sunday, We start our internship at 1st A/G. We are both excited for the opportunity to work under our favorite pastor. :0) We also are super excited to work under the youth and new children's pastor. I even let the photographer in on our secret so he will have alot of cool indoor places for us to take pictures. We never intended to be engaged this long but due to other circumstances beyond our control :) we were unable to get hitched till this summer. Which we both understand it is for the best.

So to celebrate our anniversary mike took me to Disney on Ice. This is the first time ever that Disney on Ice had come to Springfield! And since we moved last year we couldn't go to the one in Des Moines. Mike saw an ad on tv and he mentioned it to me and i went absolutely crazy. Since we are going to Disney World for our honeymoon i have pretty much talked non-stop about all the characters and all the rides, and things i'm going to buy. Mike says that i'm worse than a child. He just looks at me and smiles, so as we sat down tonight mike said that this may hold me over till i see Mickey in 3 weeks. He was way way wrong...it only increased my desire to see Mickey and Minnie. My camera died so i only got to take a few pictures! But there were a few! All i have to say is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE MICKEY & MINNIE!

A Night in the Orient-Jr.Sr. 09

<img style="WIDTH: 279px; This year the theme was A Night in the Orient. It was held at the Hammon's Tower the 21st floor. It was a gorgeous view of Springfield and the Cardinals stadium. Our entertainment was the dragon. He danced his way through the tables ate his dinner then fell asleep. it was super cute and he actually looked real. After the dragon the senior walk began and then the evening was over. we all stood around and took hundreds of pictures! it was so much fun! The older couple that is pictured is our college president, Dr. Denbow. He sat at our table and as we were talking we found out that he knew my grandad! it was so cool to hear about how influenctical my grandad was in life of someone else.

Sr. Trip 2009

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; We left late thrusday night and got back on saturday night late. We went to the zoo, the mall, the city muesum and the arch. We also had a bonfire at a state park on friday night. this trip was probably one of the most fun trips i had ever been on. The st. louis zoo is free and one of the best zoos i had been to. The city muesum is this amazing place where you can climb run through and watch different activities. That was only $12 to get in to. It had a 4 story 'play place' that you can go through. there were abotu 50 seniors that went. most of the time we were lost or not having a clue of where we were going, but that always makes for a great time. On a more serious note since i was a transfer student i didn't come in with most of the people that were on this trip and i noticed that there were tons of different groups opf people going. But thing thing that i also noticed is how un-clique like this group of seniors was. It didnt matter that i didn't go to school with them for 4 years. i was included anyway. i loved it. i kinda wish that i would have come in with them but i know that it was God's purpose that i didn't. The fact that they were so open and welcoming to people that they hadn't hung out with on a normal basis shows how great of leaders that they will be in the ministry. they will be open and welcoming to new students this will make their ministries grow and blossom. Now they have their moments of 'crazyiness' (i.e. jumping over a 5ft bonfire :)) but that just shows that they know how to fun! We did have a few scary moments-crystal got in a minor car accident, everyone was ok but the other person didn't have insurance. And lewis sliced his head open 4 inches and had to 12 staples! it was a great moment. he kept saying, 'make sure you get good pics!' we were dying laughing!! it was great.

I can't believe my time at cbc is almost up. i only have 22 days left....what am i going to do!!! hehe

shamrocks.....

ok this story is my all time favorite story of my rainbow boys that i teach on wednesday nights. we are consistently asked to 'poll' the boys for a statistic that is printed in some kind of AG literature. last night the question was to ask them 'what is God like?' most of them didn't have an answer but i few of them were funnie-remember they are 4 or just turned 5:

God is like magic, like powerful.
God is like and angel, he flies everywhere.

But then there was Nico he is 4 and this answer blew me out of the water.

sandrock...ok so im not understanding what he said....can you describe it Nico? yeah teacher rachel its green and it comes out of the ground and it has 3 leaves.....still not getting it. then tristan says, teacher rachel-the thing at st. patricks day sandrock!

oh a Shamrock......i get it now. i then asked Nico why is God like a shamrock...he looked at me and without missing a beat he says : teacher God is like a shamrock because hes 3 in 1; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost!

i about passed out. on the floor. out cold.not breathing

i have been taught about the trinity all my life but i had never heard this illustration in my entire life. it was so real to nico and he got it. he's 4 and he understands more about the trinity than most adults do. that is what ministry is about.
i used to always use the egg as an illustration for the Holy Ghost but the shamrock is so much more simple for a child to understand. because all the leaves are equal just like God but all together they make up the One True God.

hmmmm....maybe we should be listening to the kids of the church they seem to know what's going on.......

all girls chapel

once a semester we divide into guys and girls and have chapel separately. Usually this is one of the most skipped chapel services because it is normally not very good. BUT this one was spectaular!! the worship really spoke to me. here are some higlights from the songs:

"Draw me to that place Lord,

to that special place where,

I can be with you,

you can make me like you."

This song just spoke to me. I had a rough week last week and i needed to be reminded i have that special place with Jesus and he will always be in that place. no matter where or go or what i do he is there.

Another song:

He loves us,

Oh how he loves us

Oh how he loves us,

Oh how he loves us.

This song goes along with the other one really well too. i am reminded that God loves us for us. we don't have to be perfect when we come to him or even after. we can be dirty and useless. and he picks us up and wipes us off. we don't have to do anything special we can just recieve. i needed that. i always seem to forget that Jesus loves me for me. and i don't need to fix myself before i come to him. he is there to carry me through the hard times and run by my side.

past 3 weeks

Mike and i were thrown a shower in ohio by his family and my maid of honor. If everything goes well i will be offically a pastor!

School is going well. i'm getting ready to have a marathon of papers and tests. so please remember me in your prayer times for strength and endurance. Thanks i appreciate it.

Mom and Dad are in Hawaii for a week-they are having a blast! I'm glad that they got to take a break before the wedding planning hits full fledge! Sadly because we are in kansas we missed the cbc v. bbc game @ bbc. its one of the biggest rivalries of the school year. but we won!!!! yay!!! Earlier this week we had a wonderful springfield ice/sleet/snow storm (they occur every year). which got us out of school for two days!!! always a good thing but it gets me off my schedule and now ive will have been out of school for almost a week due to the trip here. Also mike and i started our engaged seminar at school during chapel on mondays. i was kinda nervous but it ended up being fun and we learned a new way of communicating which mike has preceded to use as much as possible!!! i can't wait till next week!! anyways ive been reading mark batterson's blog and i just saw a book that he recommended and i can't wait to find it and read it its called: "All i need is Jesus and a good pair of jeans." i can't wait it looks so good!!! anyway i need to get to reading. type='text'>daddy's

i saw this posted in facebook by one of my friends and i had to put it on here. it is a letter from bush twins to obama's daughters. i watched it and i cried the whole way through. i know the bush twins have had their ups and downs while their dad was in office but this shows that their parents raised them right. and i know that obama doesn't stand for all the right things but his little girls prolly don't even realize the importance of their daddy's job. the bush twinsare so compassionate to these little girls that are having their life changed more and more everyday. they are the only ones to really understand what its like to grow up in the white house. it reminds me that love overarches all.

<a dad. he isn't pastor dwight to me, hes daddy. except for the one time i called him pd. i got in trouble for that. and he loves me for me. he listens to God and follows. he is a great provider and thinker. thanks daddy for being daddy even when you had to pastor dwight to so many other people. love you.
variety-God's choice

today im chapel during worship and i'm singing the chours of a song ive sung a million times and it all of a sudden comes alive to me:
"Desert Song"
all of my life in every season
you are still God and i have a reason to sing
i have a reason to worship

i sing praise, i will sing praise
no weapon formed against me shall remain
i will rejoice and i will declare
that he is my God and he is here!

This song has been in my head all day and today when i got frustrated or mad at my circumstances, i would start singing it or humming it. it instantly makes me smile and remember that god is always there. he has always been there for me. this past year has been rough but god is there and slowly i'm beginning to see all the good that has come from it. it reminded me that i do have a reason to worship. i'm alive. i have a great family that supports all my decisions. i have a wonderful fiancee that loves me more than life and works so hard to provide for us. i have a great relationship with my future in-laws (some people don't get along with their in-laws and hate to be around them--i thank God every day that we all get along and enjoy spending time together and that they treat me as one of their own children.) i have friends that encorage me through rough times. i have a calling on my life to change the next generation. all of these things make me want to sing praises to the God that made them all possible. this jan. has been full of changes already. jobs, room arrangements, wedding details, devotional times, classes, chapel, and just life in general. but every little change is getting me one step closer to right where i god wants me to be.

mark batterson spoke about ministry philosphies today. he talked about variety--there are over 200 types of beetles on the earth--one is just fine for me but God looks at if differently. he said that he used to get frustrated as a young minister because there was no 'order of service' recorded in the Bible. he struggled with how many songs to sing, how long prayer time should be. then he realized that Jesus taught differently when he was speaking to different people. mark is convinced that there are so many ways to do church, we as pastors just haven't thought of them yet. to be honest i was beginning to get neverous. i didn't really know where he was going with the sermon. ive heard sermons go this direction before and they ended up bashing traditional churches. ive grown up in traditional churches and i attend one now and i love it! but he went to a place that i didn't expect him to at all. he said that all churches need a 'church print.' everyone had a different finger print, with that in mind all churches needed to be different. different churches meet the needs for different people. this was where i had wanted every pastor i had heard preach a sermon on ministry go. mark said bottom line: we need to minister to people. help them change their lives. he said that his church is traditional in beliefs but not traditional in they way they taught them. at the end he showed a black/white video of his church's baptism service, he was wearing cut-off shorts, a sleveless tee, sunglasses, and a backwards baseball cap. they were in a river. this is nothing like i had seen before. but the their was one common denoiminator. he was baptizing people. those people came up out of that water CHANGED!(and in color) and they showed it. they jumped up out of that water with arms streched towards heaven and praising God. i thought that this was a great illustration of the baptism. but that excitement about the Lord that is what ministry is all about. helping people change their life with Christ. it doesn't matter how they get there-just that they do.

tonight mike and i went and picked out our wedding bands. i got to bring my home and we ordered his. this was a big step for me. i'm sitting at the counter remembering when we were picking out my engagement ring. it has gone by so fast. i still can't believe that we are under a 100 days its always been real but its really coming together. everything that we plan and set into stone for the big day just makes me remember how much closer the day is getting. and to think that i only wanted to be engaged for 6-8 months. there is no way that i could have pulled it off!!!
<img width='1' height='1' God is so faithful i can't even begin to describe it. i can't wait for my internship this summer hopefully at 1st. i cant' wait to pour out my time and dreams into these children.i can't wait to teach them all about Jesus. i'm so excited to see all the differences between the iowa and southern missouri districts. i just cant wait. i'm so excited to get out into the world and do something for the kingdom. i can't wait to have my own ministry, where its me and God and thats only the beginning of the story......

im taking 21 credits this semester, working 13 hrs, working for a prof 2-3 hrs a week, designing the yearbook, oh and planning that thing called a wedding!!!!! none of this is to ask you to feel sorry for me, i'm just wanted to be able to look back at the end of the semester and see that God has provided me the strength and the hours to get everything done!

we have been having spritiual emphasis services this week. our speaker is mark batterson, pastor of national community church in d.c. they have been great....here are a few of my notes:

live your life playing offense

i want to live my life so that its worth telling stories about

we need to be a genersation that fears missed oportunities rather than our mistakes!

Jesus wants to make eye contact with me

God can recomission you

mark also gave a brand new demension to the story in luke where peter denies Jesus three times. ive heard the story a million times and i had never seen this truth: Peter denies Jesus 3 times and then the rooster crows. have you ever wondered if everytime after, peter heard a rooster crow that he was taken back to that time he denied Christ? Satan wants to program our refexes to dwell on the bad. But Christ recomissioned Peter 3 times in john 21 and he did it in the early morning. (this never dawned on me....) when do roosters crow? in the morning!!! Jesus wants to (He did with peter) recomission us. he wants to reprogram our reflexes. He wants to help us forget our mistakes and move on. this is such a new concept to me and i love it. i never thought about it. it just once again shows me that the Bible is full of new concepts that i have never seen even thought i have heard most of them. God is so amazing!!

Christmas and New Year's

Here are a few pictures of our Christmas......

Hey everyone....Christmas was great. We had the 1st Christmas Eve service that they had had in a while. It was alot of fun. The kids had a bell choir and one of the little girls did a flute solo. A couple of the teenagers sang and played instruments. We let a soamoan church use our building on sundays and they sang a number in their native tongue. it was absoulty beautiful. I'm pretty sure that there wasn't a dry eye in the place. I read the small one to the kids and also sang. Dad read the Christmas service in conclusion. It was so fun. Of course after the service aaron, mike and i were ready to hit the road and get to the house. As soon as we were done eating our pizza it is PRESENTS!!!!! I got to open the longest because aaron got an itouch. he was so excited. mike got a garmin and dvd seasons. i got a digital camera, digital photo frame, clothes, ugg boots, dvd seasons, and a few movies.

On Christmas day mike and i got up and drove to Ohio. 10 hrs later we pull into the driveway and no one knew i was coming....so surprise....i'm pretty sure his sisters were more excited to see me than him....we had dinner and opened presents we all got giftcards and mike got a 6 foot ladder, i got a few commentaries and we got some things off of our registry. We got to meet our new nephew Matthew Christopher...he is such a doll.....We spent the rest of the week hanging with family and our ohio friends. Lots of lunches and of course bowling. it was good to go to church at Radiant Life, we hadn't been there since last Christmas. The church is growing growing growing. Its such a joy to visit. We spent New Year's Eve at mike's sisters with the whole family; but mike and i went to bed before the ball dropped. this morning we made the trip back to Missouri.

Tomorrow i have a to do list that is prolly a mile long but it has to get done!!! Here are few pictures...Enjoy!!!!

one step closer

today we booked the photographer, we are closer and closer to the date. you can go and look at the photographers work at www.freelandphotography.com. we are so exited to work with mike freeland. his pictures are amazing and so untraditional. that's why i loved loved loved them! mom, dad, mike, and i went to make our package and paid the deposit today.

we are hopefully going to book the florist soon. we have a couple of bids in the works. tomorrow i'm going with dad to look at the candle obras that the church rented to see if i'm interested in those as well.

tomorrow is also the christmas eve service at church. i'm going to sing and read the small one to the kids during the service. then after of course....its present time!!!! i'll write soon to tell you what was opened!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

It's over!!!

hey there everyone.....sorry it took so long but i have been way busy!!! Actually a couple!!!! #1 is that i'm going to graduate in MAY....yes this MAY.....which means i will graduate on tuesday and then get married on friday!!! all that equals a REALLY GREAT week! lol now next semester may possibly kill me but i know that i can do it! i'm going to be taking 20 credits. which is 3 credits more than normal but i just want to get done!!! there is one more catch....i have to write a letter to the BOA to get permission to graduate without my intership completed. So please pray for them to approve it!
#2 piece of great information is that i got the finacial aid office to split the cost of their mistake. Last week we found a mistake on my bill resulting in me still owing 1000 dollars!!! Needless to say i was a bit worried on how i was going to pay that....but i made another meeting with the vice president of operations at the school and they told me that i would only have to pay 500!!! Super stoked about that!!!!! all i can say is THANK YOU JESUS!!!
Mike and I also got our engagement pictures yesterday!!! It was sooooo much fun!!! I can't believe this will be the end of the 5th semester of school for me. I kinda feel more and more like an adult everyday. (isn't that the point?)

We didn't have school Monday or Tuesday due to Fall Break!!!! But sadly....Mike and I headed up to Independence to help mom and dad move!!! (JK mom). Mike was asked to build mom some shelves in the garage for her dishes and i was put in charge of unpacking and washing the dishes. As well as being in charge of the deliveries that happened to be scheduled for the day that mom and dad were gone....i think that they may have planned it that way.....hehe! We had a pretty good time and the most exciting thing is that we get to go back on Saturday to KEEP helping!!!! The wonderful joys of family life!!!!

Now that I'm back in Springfield, school and work is a must. But i have started a new buisness that i want to share with ya'll. I started selling stampin up! which is scrapbooking and card-making supplies. I got my kit today so i'm super pumped!!! Mike wants me to win the cruise for our honeymoon.....we will see! If anyone wants to have a party let me know please!!!!

Mike and I are getting our engagement pics done next Tuesday--please pray it doesn't rain!! i really don't want to reschedule them again!!!

Midterms are OVER!!!

Sorry that i haven't written since Sunday, but i have been a little busy with these things called midterms!!! I'm sitting in the library, ready to take my last one that starts in 20 minutes. This one is the one i'm the most nervous for. I found out yesterday from some students that took it that the study guide is worthless....so i had to just study all 25 pages of typed notes. The first three chapters of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and practically memorize the Sermon on the Mount. I've been faithful with my time and studies so i know the Lord will help me remember the things that I have studied....I just hope that I have studied the right things. LOL!! I have taken 3 other tests this week....which I have gotten all A's on so i was hoping to the keep the streak going. After this midterm its fall break!!
Tomorrow after Mike gets off work we will be heading to Independence to help mom and dad start unpacking the house. WOOHOO! (not really!!) Mike has a small "honey-dew" list from mom and I may be driving back to Iowa on Monday to help with the transportation of the 2nd truck....we will see.....I'm super excited to just be a couple of hours from my mom and dad!!! As soon as the house is unpacked the wedding plans can commence!!!! I'm soooo....excited!!! I'm ready for a break.
We had to reschdule our enagement pictures on Wednesday cuz it decided to rain.....all day!!! I mean all day LONG!!! So now the earliest date the photographer can get us in is early Novemeber.
One last thing, If the people out there could pray for our house in Iowa would sell and sell quickly!!! Thanks i really appreciate it. Well its about test time--so Ta-Ta for now!!!!

Weekend at home

Ok....so from the start i LOVE being a PK most of the time. But today is one of those days when i question it hard!!! I was just sitting there minding my own business in the pew; and all of the sudden dad up and calls me out to come up and help him with an illustration for his sermon. I got up and he proceded to pull mike up there as well to "rehearse" everything that was going to go on the day of my wedding: the walking down the alise, the giving away of the bride, the standing up there awkwardly, the turning around, and the prouncement. Of course it was all a joke and nothing was actually said, but it sure felt weird! And everyone of course was laughing through out the whole thing and i can't remember the point of the illustration. I still love being a PK even though i have my days!!!!! Love you dad!

Also this weekend a bunch of people from iowa headed down to visit!!! We had a blast! We went shopping all afternoon and brooke, madi, and i rode the carousal. Mike and I went swimming with them while the mom's and dad's went out to eat!!! (We had way more fun.) They all now know why i totally dislike the game marco polo!! They also got to witness first hand my sermon illustration that i was apart of as well!! There were more people from iowa that showed up for church on Sunday and we went out to eat with everyone for lunch!!! We had a great time!!!! Love all ya'll!!!!!!

CBC vs. BBC Football

Last night was the annual CBC BBC battle for the holy grail.....its revial flag football game that goes down every year....last night was no different!!!
